I’m the woman you can’t control
The one who challenges you
Shake you up when you’re down
The one who looks you in the eye
Questions you when you lose way
And the one you come to hate as
I won’t let you settle unless I know
You have given your very best to it
And so I will make a man out of the
Boy you are today pushing you to
Ensure you get best of the world
While you find it difficult to keep up
With me since I disturb the very
Core you have built for yourself but
You will learn to take responsibility
I’m the woman you learn to respect
Not the one you buy flowers for or
The one you have to look out for
Someone you will blindly rely on
But I’m the woman you can’t love

Most of the people out there fail to understand the real gems and fall for fake ones. But there are a few lucky souls who know how to spot a pearl in the ocean of rocks 😉

    1. Agreed 🙂 Also, it’s always about the easy way/the comfort zone. Anyone who tells you differently, questions you, it’s basic human nature to react to it instead of taking a step back and trying to figure out that perhaps the person does mean well 🙂
      Hoping for a change in these times is like praying for wings 😛

  15. Wow, I thought this piece resonated a strong, self assured woman but the final line threw me off. I don’t understand why she is the woman he can’t love when she just presented so many positive attributes.

I’m pretty sure the woman is confident and strong about who she is 🙂 but it talks of a man who couldn’t take being questioned or pushed and while he knew she did it for his betterment, the idea that she was more self assured than he would ever be couldn’t fit well with him. In a way, he’d respect her but also not want to be with her.

  16. This reminds me of last summer on vacation. It had been a long day of bicycling and my wife suggested I make a photo of a diner (restaurant) we were passing on the way back from our dinner. Tired and not wanting to pull my camera out yet again, I made some lame excuse. She replied that she thought it would be a good shot but if I just wanted to be lazy… That was it; I pulled out the camera. Darn if that was not one of the best shots that week. So, I did find this girl….and had the good sense to marry her – lol Cheers to you Barrira. Great post.

  27. Came across a perfectly matching woman alas she was married and so was i, at times life is not fair.
    Still inspired by her. Ignited something that i had buried, but really loved your words.

      1. Yes it is, but at times it seems so hollow, as if we are trying to convince our own self under the blanket of maturity, faith, physology, time and tide wait for nobody, yeah yeah yeah.
        But the coal remains, deep inside forever, waiting waiting waiting, to be ignited.
