She knows it’s time to let go
Her mind tells her to cut off
The memories she holds so
Dear to herself like oxygen
As they become toxic spreading
Darkness inside her in every
Corner of her being eating away
Who she was once, herself
Now every time she looks in
The mirror an empty gaze seem
To drill through her head as
If trying to jolt the person to life
She sighs and looks around
Maybe the questions she wanted
Him to answer were to be buried
With the memories she held close
He was happy and that was all
She needed to know and in that
Happiness she would have to find
Peace for herself, it was never about
What she wanted from life but
Knowing that he had found home
So she smiles through tears of a
Heart she no longer feels beating
And sits down to pull out threads of
their memories they built together
Cutting off the cords wincing in
Pain as her hands shook with each
String thrown away creating voids
Every post of yours is better than the last one. I loved this too much as it struck a personal chord.

It was so beautiful. Selfless love only cares for the smile of the other person and not ours. But still a selfish part of desire longs for what can never be ours. Your way of expressing your thoughts is mesmerizing.

This is so beautiful. Love is all about being ‘selfless’. It pains and hurts a lot (I guess) to see that the person you saw your home in couldn’t see theirs in you but like you said, we have to find peace with their happiness.
Much love,

I like the part at least she knows he is happy. There is something satisfying in that. For me, closure has always been about not letting the memories affect you as much as they once did.

Or perhaps learning to live with those memories peacefully 🙂

I love your poem Closure. Thanks for liking my poem Riding The Roof of England by the way. I am new to WordPress and yours is my first like so you are a milestone for me. I appreciate that a great deal. I am sure I have read your peoms on other sites. Do you go on World Facebook poetry sites under a different name? I will read some more of your poems too…

I really did enjoy your poem, nothing feels better than writing for a reason/ a cause. My presence on social media is almost unnoticeable, don’t really use any place except this one 🙂

We give very little credit to the heart, everyone always talk about the brain. Au contraire, the heart survives so much 🙂
