A little more you

There is a world you hide
Beneath that skin of yours
A world that nobody notices
Where the words are lighter
And heart beat is calmer
A world which is an abstract
Mix of sorrows and joys
All woven together perfectly
Making it more real than you
The face for the appearance
The smile for the audience
The words perfectly timed
An actor’s perfected act
You perform stunningly on
Stage for the world to watch
But it’s when you are alone
In voids and spaces of time
The unsure you visibly comes
Out when nobody watches
That part of you lurking in
Shadows for you to relax
A little more you, real you
Making you more human

It’s in the Wind

As I step out of the dreary
Building filled only with
Mechanized voices and
Hollow laughter of people
The outside air feels so
Fresh like a weight lifted
Off my chest and I could
Breathe openly, absorbing
the surrounding to realize
The wind carrying patrichor
I look around and a smile
Spreads on my face noticing
The slightly wet floor and
Breathtaking garden glistening
Under umbrella of water
Droplets like decorations
On my favorite Christmas tree
I inhale deeply letting the air
Fill my lungs like silent
Hope making its way to
Brighten the gloomy day
It carries peace in its waves
Subtly relaxing the spirit
Like watching a sunset after
A long tiring day at work
The birds sing songs perched
On trees creating music
And it feels that the chilly
Wind is dancing to the tune
As I hum along with them
The heart peacefully beats
Happiness is in the wind

Saving the World

You don’t need superpowers
To save the world from dying
All you need is a pure heart
That wishes to see others smile
Show compassion towards
Strangers in need of help and
Homeless who need food to
Survive through the cold night
A scared child who wants some
Clothes to protect himself from
Thunder and storm roaring in sky
Or Elderly who needs help to cross
The road for they can’t see like you
So look around and lend a hand
It will hardly take your time and
Ease others lives with heartfelt
Prayers your way cause you’d be
Their hero who saved their day

Spread Happiness

A little smile on your face
Can make someone’s day
So cheer up for life is full
Of bumps and turns along
The twisted road you walk

Your words of hope are like
Rain on a barren land so
Write for they create happy
Rainbows in hearts of those
who hold you dear in life

Your twinkling eyes as a
Child does a magic trick
On the road corner turn
His bleak day a little brighter
So slow down it’s worth it

Your surprise gift to your
Mother on a random day
Made her smile through
Her pain as she lay in bed
So sit and share stories

Your invitation to a friend
Over a cup of tea after
Months saved your childhood
Friendship that was slipping
So laugh honestly and freely

Your world seems lighter
As you try to reach out
Realizing you had pulled
Away and they were waiting
For their happiness is you

Enigma

The air seems to be telling
Tales carried from across
Worlds filled with questions
The clouds travel with secrets
You try to decipher in their
Shapes and sizes looking for
Answers you can’t find in life
The smoke rising afar drifting
Scattering into nothingness as
If it never existed reminding me
Of fragility of human life itself
How people disappear into voids
Like we had imagined them into
Existence just to dispel our misery
And how the homes we hold so
Close collapse under pressure as
If the safest place was never more
Than an illusion for peace and love
Our lives are an infinite stream of
Enigmas we all try to figure with
Hope that it will help us give some
Meaning to this puzzle of ‘life’

Your Old Man

Just because you see him smile
Doesn’t means things are okay
So don’t judge him by the lines
That are sketched on his face
But see through them if you can
The pain that hides in the eyes
The lingering shadows that are
Like a trick fading and showing
Up as a figment of imagination
Unless you look long enough to
Notice the creases etched on
His trembling hands as he hides
Them from you and laughs it
Off when you worry, saying he
Is strong and brave unlike you
The slightest way he seems to
Waver as he walks to his room
Refusing your help with a shrug
And gently pats your cheek to
Reassure you of his well-being
The way you can hear him cough
Through darkest hours of night
Making you want to run to him
But you know better than that
Your old man is your pillar of
Strength, your super hero who
Never falters and you secretly
Pray it is never any other way

Detached Apathy

Another day passes by
As I go through the life
In same perpetual motion
Each day is the same till
I can’t tell yesterday apart
From tomorrow and today
From yesterday, weariness
To carry on with the mundane
A certain detached apathy
Lurks within my shadow
Invisible to the out-lookers
I wear a perfect smile and
Display the required emotions
As need be at times so life
Remains simple, eventually
Nothing requires effort
You don’t have to be there
To perform your daily chores
Or do the necessary socializing
All it takes is separating
Yourself from the body and
World and let detachment
Do the part it needs to as it’s
Easier this way and boring
Nothing is of interest and
People come and go while
I perform every relationship
As I must without feeling
Indifference for there is lack
Of depth I once craved for
And now life is much easier
For doing the do while letting
The mind and soul wander away
For peace and contenment

There is Love

There is Love everywhere
It is when a mother scolds
Her child for being later
It is when a father proudly
Talks about his son’s work
It is when two friends sit
And laugh across a coffee
Table catching up on life
It is when a grandmother
Bakes cookies for her
Grand-kids even when her
Hands shake and back aches
It is when she stands at the
Airport two hours earlier than
The flight, constantly looking
Down at her watch and then
The gate with hopeful eyes
It is when a child helps an
Elderly cross the road happily
It is when they write a story
Together for the world to see
It is when they argue non-stop
But he protects her from bullies
It is when the wind blows cold
And the sun shine bright while
We see a rainbow across the sky
It is spread across oceans and
Waves if only we’d pay attention

Happiness in a Tea Cup

Happiness resides in a tea cup
Simmering and boiling with warmth
An aroma that relaxes your senses
Taking away your stress of the day
The smile the first sip brings as
Your lips are tantalized with the
Taste of the heaven and you can only
Fall deeper in love with this magical
Creation as it takes you to a calmer
Place which removes all worries
From your mind making you feel
Lighter and hopeful about this world
Reminding you that there will be a
Tomorrow and it’s okay to breathe
It wraps you up in comfort of its
Familiarity like coming back home
After losing way in chaos of world

My Fluffy Friend

I feel it swoosh its tail on
My face and I mutter, half
Asleep trying to push it
away but it continues to
Irritate me till I open my
eyes and let her know that
My sleep has gone away
Little ball of fluff wakes me
Up each morning this way
Purring and snuggling closer
Making me smile, I pet her
And she meows wanting
To be pampered more like a
Spoiled little brat that she is
Refusing to go away till I agree
To feed and play with her as
Long as she wants the games
To go on but I like having her
Boss me around and so I do
Exactly which she asks for
Making us both really happy
As I hold her in my arms and
Feel her warmth and big brown
Eyes looking at me, I sense my
Worries dissipating in my mind
Like a long distant memory
So each day I leave with a smile
And she stands near the door
Watching me leave as if she
Means to say “see you soon”
