Forgive yourself

Life hasn’t gone the way
You expected it to go and
There have been mistakes
You wish to erase forever
From your memory like
They never existed so that
moving on would be easy
So listen to the words that
I wish to convey tonight
Telling you that it’s okay
To make mistakes and life
Was never meant to be easy
Perfection is nothing as we
All are flawed, hiding secrets
And mistakes we all regret
You are not alone in your
Battles against yourself at
Midnight as the world sleeps
Forgive yourself and move on
For that’s the first step towards
Making things right for yourself
No matter how deep the pit is
Believe and you will make it out
Just know that you aren’t alone
Each one of us have our baggage
Together we can help each other
To accept the past and open the
New door to life in hope of light

  12. Thank you for liking “Network.” This is a wonderful poem on a difficult subject. Forgiving yourself can be one of the hardest things to do in life, but it is a necessary step for personal growth. It also frees up your energy so that you can give to others.

  16. It’s interesting how we tend to be hardest on ourselves than on anyone else. Someone once told me that if I would never allow someone to treat my friends the way I treat myself sometimes. How true that is for most of us..

    1. Wise words, couldn’t be more apt. We are the hardest on ourselves, I’m my own biggest critic and despite knowing I push myself too much, I still fall in that spiral downwards so we all need reminders 🙂

  18. “No matter how deep the pit is, believe and you will make it out”. It is so great to see the optimism back in your poetry 😉 It really made me smile. Also, I don’t think I mentioned it earlier, your poems can be sung like a song. I just tried it and it didn’t sound bad even in my voice (which is a great achievement for you because I can make any song sound bad ^_^ )

    1. haha I like to keep a balance in my writings, it has to be mix and since I like to call myself a “writer’ (self proclaimed xD) I make sure I don’t fall in to a trap of same words,and emotions 🙂
